after two races, renault is hanging on to the top positions in the F1 standings... somewhat unexpected seeing that ferrari is down the ladder somewhere (that they could easily be lost in the crowd!)...
out of 10 teams, 5 teams have drivers within the top 3 positions... very strange indeed... does the new regulation widely open the competition and seemingly threatening the dominance of ferrari...?
feel quite sorry for BAR-Honda to have both cars out in fume... then again, their mechanics and engineers and designers ought to do a better job than that... and what the heck is happening to jordan??? nothing much worth mentioning this year so far...

Watch the Grand Prix from start to the finish line. Renault was good and no fluke. The new rules (bunch of nonsense) are not doing Ferrari any good this season. However, I expect them to bounce back stronger in the coming grand prix. Just watch them (what to do, me Ferrari supporter mah).
Lilian, I was about to start this thread in the afternoon. :D

well, i'm not really a supporter of any team in particular but i used to be big into mclaren (i like mika hakkinen :)) but now, will just watch the races without favourite winning team... just admire the drivers' skills...

i'm a die-hard ferrari person - the new rules are crazy - punish a team so that there is more competition. anyway, just wait until ferrari's new car comes out in may - the current one is a modified 2004 one.

Mika Hakkinen, I used to like him quite a lot. I remember you told me you liked him a couple of weeks back.
In fact, I like Michael Schumacher and Ferrari since the start of Malaysia, Grand Prix. That year, Eddie Irvine (never liked him) was the champion. Other than that, all sapu by M.Schu. Thought he can be a little arrogant at times, he is just too good for the rest of the drivers. That's why we have all these new rules, to be exact, anti-Ferrari rules.

After Hakkinen quit, i watch F1 to see schumacher blunder.... which he doesn't do too well

LiLiaN
03-20-2005, 10:18 PM
no, he confirmed not coming back... at first say off 1 season then sekali decided not coming back at all... instead he's now driving for a more low-profile German Touring car series (DTM) for Mercedes... probably a safer sport seeing that he has a young family...
(actually DTM not that low profile also... it's the "F1 of touring cars"...)

i bet if michael drives a minardi or a jordan, he'll fail too - however, he can help give expert advice to the engineers to improve the car. the saubers are not bad - they've got their own wind tunnel and their engines are ferrari's anyway.

not sure how mika will fare with DTM... this year would be his first season and the season not starting until next month...
i reckon schumacher is the best of the current lot, but driving a ferrari and bridgestone being so dedicated to ferrari gives him a big edge. however, in my opinion, senna was the best of the modern drivers...

Maybe every Finn got to go through this jinx once in their career.yup, i was made that remark based on mika's event... must shut my mouth next time... :( :p

if kimi has won today, he'd be closing in to alonso already...

so far this season, alonso has been consistently in top 5 with 4 podium finish...

What a joke! A mere farce. I hope no one from back home stayed up to watch the Indianapolis Grand Prix. All cars using Michelin retired into the pits at the end of the formation lap. Well, they were forced to because Michelin and FIA could not come up with an agreement. Only 6 cars (Ferrari, Jordan and Minardi) started the race proper. I really pity those fans who had to go through all the trouble to be there on that day. I would be really really pissed!

the prob is dat there is one corner dat is too fast (indy style) and Michelin tyre cannot take the load....somemore with the new rule, only 1 set of tyres for the whole race which clearly pose a danger. Ralf crash out durin the free trial....They wanted to put a chicane before that fast corner but Ferrari was the only team who oppose it (talk abt lack of sportsmanship.....)
This really kick F1 in the face as they try so hard to break into the US market....

i'm a die-hard ferrari person - the new rules are crazy - punish a team so that there is more competition. anyway, just wait until ferrari's new car comes out in may - the current one is a modified 2004 one.
Actually cannot say punish a team for others. Coz if the rules are changed, then it will apply for all. If Ferrari is really that fantastic, whatever rules apply shouldnt be a problem coz it will also apply to the rest of the teams. I think a better way is to cap the amount of money a team spend an entire season so that it will be fairer. Poorer teams got less resources for testing and developmet.

i'm not too keen on f1 anymore:
1) too much money involved, so only teams with the financial backing have any real chance to win.
2) too many safety devices on the cars - so overtaking is very rare and hard compared to the past. also takes drivers skill out of the equation with regards to overtaking to a large extent.
i think the days of raw, skillful driving died with senna...

that's called an observation that a 3rd spectator makes when they have followed the sport over a number of years but now no longer have for last several years, except for spasmodic periods on and off. are you implying that someone who has an opinion which differs from yours is not allowed allowed to and/or their opinions are not valid because of that difference and/or that if someone's opinion differs from yours they have to be an expert in that field to express that differing opinion?
i've actually driven 911s, Boxsters, SLKs, CLKs, M3s but never an F1 car before. what about yourself, Lava?

that's called an observation that a 3rd spectator makes when they have followed the sport over a number of years but now no longer have for last several years, except for spasmodic periods on and off. are you implying that someone who has an opinion which differs from yours is not allowed allowed to and/or their opinions are not valid because of that difference and/or that if someone's opinion differs from yours they have to be an expert in that field to express that differing opinion?
*Screeeeeeccchhhhhhhhh*I had to brake.....while reading that post!
Of coz specatators can & co make observations, and entitled to own opinions...its a free world, right? toking bout differing oinions, reminds of of yest's conversation wif Kochun on the young-lady/old-lady pic thingy...
POST 174 ONWARDS - do anyone have the pic to share?? it used to be in a circulating e-mail.. (http://www.acs-sitiawan.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1813&page=18&pp=10&highlight=literary)
Nah....every different opinion is acknowledged - but not necessarily agreed with...sometimes its d art of agreeing to disagree :amused: which creates a win/win situation for all involved parties. Doesnt necessarily mean experts have d best say...lay-men may come up with rather indigeneous ideas themselves at time:)
you still haven't answered my question though. i doubt that you didn't know the answer to your question, so why bother asking? what were you trying to imply?

aiya, like dat oso can ar? engine rosak bo bien one mar, say sabo somemore. but in the end, still good race. podium finish? or just finish with points? i told u guys liou, that mosley must get the f*** out of F1 liou. his stupid rules is to blame.yup... so even with kimi supposedly to start today's race at 2nd grid, he's now at 12... never mind, we'll see what wonder he can do today (although since i'm at work, i'm going to miss the live telecast)...

i'm not too keen on f1 anymore:
1) too much money involved, so only teams with the financial backing have any real chance to win.
2) too many safety devices on the cars - so overtaking is very rare and hard compared to the past. also takes drivers skill out of the equation with regards to overtaking to a large extent.
i think the days of raw, skillful driving died with senna...agree with you to some extend there, but at least this season sees more action than the last couple of seasons when it was all so predictable...
unfortunately, while we enjoy the races, we don't want to see more talents like senna to lose their lives on the track... and there have been great performances lately... at least enough to get me back on being a spectator... completely couldn't be bothered for the past 2-3 years... :)
ps: in any case, i was way too young to enjoy the sport when senna was still alive, so guess i'm one of the new generation spectator...

he did well considering the 10 position penalty....McClaren better make sure no engine failure in the next GP.......two in a row is already bad.......he would have make some grounds on Alonso if not for the engine failure....

nope... ferrari is really not on a pretty streak this season...
but yeah, sure hope kimi's engine would be ok next time round...
if he wants to get to the championship and beat alonso...
he needs more solid performances and a good few more first placing...

Can we really blame it on the machine?

Can we really blame it on the machine?well, the cars do make a difference in term of performances...
e.g. coulthard is a pretty good driver, but he's not doing that great this season...
he probably should have stayed with mclaren and he'll be flying this year...!
