My embarassing story - probably (and hopefully) no one will remember, this .

You know how back in Primary School - we have story telling contests (EUJ was really famous for that) - teacher made me represent my class in standard four. Normally for story telling purposes, we would have visuals (pictures drawn or in EUJ's case, puppets to illustrate our story). Being so nervous as I was, I held my first visual/picture upside down - didn't realize why everyone was laughing at me till my friends were frantically signalling me to put the picture the right way up. Can't explain how embarassed I was - in front of the whole primary school somemore! Got fourth out of 5 story tellers - not bad lah - at least didn't come in last!

janice's ketua darjah story reminded of me in standard 1 ('87)... i was picked by puan noraini as the k.d. but one look at the badge, i asked her why can't she give me the green one because i like that colour better than the red one she is giving me... i was quite cross when i didn't get my way.... :o

Ketua Darjah is also known as "Donkey of the class".
Because you do all the work while the rest of your classmates sit there and see u do it. If no chalk, you have to go get it. If teacher forgot to get the excersise books, you go get it. If teacher not around, you have to be the bad guy to report to teacher and everybody hates you. :laugh:

OK. I'll start since I'm in a generous mood.

Today is raining and weather is moody. Reminds me as a young foochow from kampung hanging out at home.

Football? Shot... (if I insist going out and play, there will be cane marks later on the bodi like sarjan; sometimes get koperal..)

Collect latex? Most of the time, the rubber tapper will be stranded at home; hence, no income and the children ..... (& that includes me) gone are my additional few dollars of pocket money. :sad-2:

The only thing I do - maybe chew some "kompiang" while waiting for the rains to stop and then, maybe, go out and play...

As for me, I went to Giant this morning for some grocery shopping.

This brought back some good ole memories, when I study kat Kanada, I used to memorize the price list. The trick these retailer used is - it rotates every 3-4 weeks. Meaning, if you miss the discount item, sori bro - wait.. Sometimes, it can be frustrating for student like me, esp. when your provision start to run low,.... very low....

The price? For instance, Heinze pizza/spagetti tomato sauce is less than 10 dollars for a dozen cans! Yes it is amazing. Chicken drumstick .59 per kilo.

Nuff said. Amazing price!

...as for me. My wife related to me the story of her childhood. She was from a very very poor family. The family had to support themselves by selling kuihs. My wife was cheerfully telling me how she would sell them in the mornings by shouting 'Kuihh! Kuihhh!'. As for me, I was ready to cry my eyeballs out when she told me that...

Suddenly, my motorcycle stop
I thought my bike broke down

went to a near by mechanic & he told me "You petrol thank is empty". I was:o & :mad: .

Later, another classmate of mine faces the same problem

Those F@#*ers are terrible. I really wonder where are they now.

i remember in primary school we all used to sneak over to the secondary school canteen in order to buy the junk food, since the primary school canteen they were not allowed to sell junk food anymore. so i would sneak over and buy some twisties, perisa barbecue. the problem was, i was not only hiding from the primary school teachers, but also ALL the secondary school teachers as well. takut after somebody sound to my mother i was buying junk food (which technically my mother said i was not allowed to purchase or eat)...

It was like that** whenever we are caught for "curi makan" during those days.

NB: "Curi makan" is a curious term coined probably in the 70s. I say it is curious because the term was probably coined by half past six teachers who could only managed to graduate from....err... Oxford Street. Why? The food is ours, the person who ate them is US, only wrong thing is the timing.

How times have changed! These days, it's the teachers who would be like "**" if any student fainted or died from hunger.

p.s. Mr. Ling was always first class in PR even during those days; never seek to embarass anyone. Consequently, most students (like us!) have great memories 'bout that gentleman.
