believe me - without a sense of humor, a kid named "Sila" in malaysia cannot survive. at the library - "Sila Diam", at the toll place "Sila ambil tiket transit", at the toll paying place "Sila bayar", at the masjid "Sila Tanggalkan Kasut". everything oso me wan.. :D even my relatives made fun of me (and not just Hisham)..

and plus it rhymes with "gila" and apparently even my friends cannot resist calling me that! :D

but having said that - as a teenager i decided it was a cool name and no one else had it (many Zilas and Sheilas and Dilas in the world but very few Sila). i still haven't met anyone with the name Sila.

i think even if it sounds odd, the important thing about naming a child is the meaning. in many ways i think you do end up fulfilling your name - so a good meaning name is always ideal, even if you end up being made fun of at school. i like the name kharmyn or kharmen, siewjang! :D

For me, honestly...Kharynn and Kharlene is rather different in terms of pronunciation. For Kharynn, you would emphasize the 'rynn' (the Khar is pronounce as you would the 'Ca' as in Carina) but Kharlene, you would emphasize on the Khar as in 'Carlsberg'.

But I like both Kharen and Kharynn...kinda wished that your two daughters had taken these two names, pretty well-matched for a pair of sisters, don't you think?

I found out that since my eldest is Khar - pronounce as 'car' no matter how you put in the next, ppl will tend to pronounce it as 'car'. eg. Kharee (Kari). That is why I tergendala with Kharen. I might be wrong.
