i know. i really regretted doing it the next day. today is the last day of work before easter. my mates want to have a big night out, but i know indra wants to go somewhere to salsa. so, looks like we'll be going to salsa. at least that way i won't get home at some ungodly hour...

seems to me a cab would cost more round trip than renting a car and driving it yourself.. i couldn't even guess how much it would cost from KL to sitiawan by cab. i bet ray or siew jin can help cost that for you.

i dunno why pebs would mind but you should check with her lah - or ask her if you should call uncle and aunty hoo see if they mind...

i've just checked on avis malaysia website. it'll cots about RM$750 for 4 days. not too bad. i'll probably fly from singapore to klia on 19/5, pick up the car there, drive to sitiawan, drive back to klia and then fly back to singapore on the 23rd of something like that...indra wants to spend a couple of days in singapore looking around...

Sila
03-29-2005, 01:45 PM
the price (if converted) is comparable to what you would pay for a rental car in the US as well..

you know i still have never looked around in singapore!! :D NEVER. just fly through the airport only and looked at it from across the causeway in JB.

i have really gotten into bread baking though - i baked 2 baguettes on friday night and by sunday they were gone (just vin & me eating). so sunday i baked 2 more loaves this time of italian bread in the shape of baguettes.. turned out pretty good even though i thought i botched the batter (kept sticking to the bowl and i added so much extra flour than the recipe prescribed).. but ended up rising very nicely...

Do you know with RM750, what can you buy in KL? Hmm... that was even the cost of my car monthly instalment. RM750 was dem expensive.

Euj, FYI, a cab from KL to S'wan is about RM25 per person if i'm not mistaken cos I have a staff travel to and fro often.

Tentatively, I can still make it for Sila's wedding but if I can't make it (touch wood) :o I don't mind lending you my extra car since I won't be reporting to work yet. (see.. good way to save your RM750)

04-03-2005, 08:47 PM
You will need to drive on the highway for about 1 hr before exiting the Bidor exit. From there, it will be coastal way. I think those sign board is still there. Well, not worry it now. Let's decide when times come.

Not really weak, but my mom make sure I lay down a lot. Too much sit up is bad for the back bone. Anyway, it does make my a$$ sore by sitting too much :o

katie melua is from the uk. writes her own songs. she is amazing. you have to listen to it. i love her song - the closest thing to crazy...and call off the search...
casey chambers is not bad. there so many amazing aussies singers - try jet, little birdy - a WA band and the whitlams - very mellow...

da world is full of masquarades :crying:

dress nice - how many people (esp girls) actually can't wait 2 party to be over so they can go & wear something more comfy :p

talk nice - yea...all those pretensious compliments, uttered juz 4 the sake of saying the right thing!

pretend to like -after da party, won't be surprised if "bitching session" follows..

so the choice is ours...to be our real-selves & enjoy d party  ...or to put on a masquarade ourself and join da majority out there

well lavanya, if it's for work then what to do? swallow it lah - go and make nice to people. it's just for work. other than that, i don't attend anything where i have to be fake lah. if going out with clients, then must be on best behaviour lah - i deal with my clients face to face on a daily basis. if they don't like me, then susah la. not to say i am fake with them - but must be on best behaviour loh. luckily i like my current clients and if i hang out with them they have gotten used to me and my directly honest ways.

for fun, i go and have dinner with my friends, or make dinner for them to come and enjoy. that's what i consider good fun these days. and i don't care if you show up to dinner wearing guni sack oso can - as long as you bring your interesting self with you.. :)

Definately want to go for the finals... i don't care who plays. My cousin (who's 14 years older than us) actually went for the Mexico 86 finals when he was a student in london. He says it was definately a highlight in his life... and he was an england fan at that.

Hey euj, you may know this cousin of mine... he used to play squash with you those days, was an officer in the navy that time (circa 1989)... he knows you because your dad asked him to play squash with you several times. Fair, bald and slim guy.

He says it was definately a highlight in his life... and he was an england fan at that.in that case, really should go on board NOW to try to get ticket on the draw...

from what i gather, tickets are available either a) by team of choice or b) by individual tickets based on stadium location...

by the team of choice, you can get:
- group matches only
- group matches + final 16
- group matches + final 16 + quarterfinal
- group matches + final 16 + quarterfinal + semifinal
- group matches + final 16 + quarterfinal + semifinal + final/3rd play off

as the matches progress, if you team lost, your tickets will go to the team that beat your favourite and you'll be reimburse for most of the ticket price minus administrative fees of course....

for opening/closing matches, the tickets are more expensive of course than the regular ones...

i have no interest in the world cup (typical girl response, i know). but seems like every professional sport thing i attend i just get injured. at a baseball game one time, a foul ball was hit towards us and this big fat bloke stepped on my foot and crushed me trying to catch the stupid ball!! i was not pleased. neither was the little piggy who cried wee wee wee all the way home - was bruised for WEEKS!! might even have fractured the damn thing.. also got knocked in the head during another game during foul ball scramble. now if a foul ball comes i put my arms around my head and lift up my legs (almost the pose you supposed to assume in the event of a crash landing... coincidence?? i think not!!)

Sila, I think I will get the mixer for my wife as a Birthday present in June. Any recommendation as to the type of mixer?
KitchenAid all the way, vc. it will last a lifetime, plus got lifetime guarantee so they will fix stuff. also i would suggest a stand mixer - then you have hands free to run around the kitchen measuring/etc. while the thing goes on its own. depends on what you expect to do with it - if just normal cakes/cookies, then a 5-quart, 300-350 watt stand mixer is fine. if you are thinking of doing breads (it will knead the bread with a dough hook) you need a 525-watt mixer. mine is a 6-quart bowl. the reason why you need such a high wattage is because it works really hard to knead the bread dough - no need to knead by hand after that. the little engines get overheated and may short out. the 525 watter can handle doing 2 loaves in one go, without any problems. even so, if you put your hand on it after it is done kneading, it's quite hot. can't imagine how the smaller wattage ones handle that...

Sila
04-16-2005, 10:35 AM
wow, looks amazing. you won't be able to make these bread in malaysia, will you?
oh sorry euj - not in malaysia unless you are volunteering to be the kneader :p. hard work kneading lah - i tried that before. seriously i think i flavored the bread more with my sweat than with salt from the salt shaker...

well, if you own the place and hire a few hands, you can continue testing out new recipes...
that's a good idea... :D waaaah belum apa-apa already thinking of expansion and lepas tangan to employees?? :D

i will continue experimenting so i get a good variety before i think of opening a bakery lah. but you are welcome to come and try anything at any time, boss, k?

full day of class - he only had a granola bar at 11 AM. he does that sometimes - too much to do or something.. it makes me mad! because then he's just STARVING at 5, and absolutely not hungry at a normal dinner time. not to mention the fact that he goes long time without eating - usually he packs a lunch but today apparently we had nothing but granola bars. no yogurt, no more bread for sandwiches. what to do? :)
